Redlands, California: Architectural Detail
Redland, also known as the Jewel of the Inland Empire, is one of the oldest cities in California. Founded in 1889, it came into its own during the early 1900s as a thriving center of the world's most significant naval orange production. With this success, many of the city's newly affluent citrus growers set about building their dream homes in whatever style appealed to them. Even though many of these classic dwellings have been lost to time, the city remains rich in examples of Late Victorian, Colonial, Classic Revival, and Craftsman homes. Even as the city modernizes and its diverse citizenry continues to grow, it makes every effort to preserve its past while moving forward in the 21st century.
